Green Day are one of my all time favourites. No matter what type of song they can pull it off. They lyrics are always great and they always have great meanings like "Holiday" basically fuck you t the government. Great band, Great songs.

I hate the way fans turn against the band as soon as they get mainstream. But anyway, yeah, I like Green Day. Their softer earlier stuff like "Good Riddance" and "Warning" is better in my opinion but I still like tracks like "Holiday" and "American Idiot".

I think I'd put this in "pop" section. They're first albums up to Dookie were good but now it's just afew 35 year old guys wearing eyeliner and pants tighter then their wives. American Idiot is just a bad album and it's one of the few albums I literally can't bear to listen to anymore, the attempts at being rebellious are just pathetic because they are everything they speak against, which makes them... posers.

Explain to me how they are everything they speak against... Cause there not

They say "Fuck the government" let alone i watched an interview last week and guess who isnt voting in the election, Billy Joe Armstrong. green Day do not speak against themselves cause if they did they wouldnt be where they are today would they?

They're what they speak against because the "Fuck the government" thing is just a marketing plow to make people feel "rebellious" Now I think if they were so Anti Establishment and Anarchist they wouldn't be signing huge record deals, have their merchandise all over Hot Topic, and do interviews and play shows for the Music Television. They've been called posers by guys many respected punk bands because they are. They're nothing but Pop bubble gum rock apart of the 21st century trends, they had a chance to be an influential and non hypocritical punk rock band but they ruined it. These guys grew up with Operation Ivy, Citizen fish and the screeching weasles and now they're on the EMA's? does not compute.

So there we are fending off all that and it pisses me off that years later a wank outfit like Green Day hop in and nick all that and attach it to themselves. They didn't earn their wings to do that and if they were true punk they wouldn't look anything like they do.

No there were they are today cause they have been well established and have released great songs. Look at bands like Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath or Rage Against The Machine. no they wouldnt be exactly role models yet there extremely publisised because they were or are a success. Like RATM, I usually see at least one of there songs a week on MTV at night. Yet there more against the government then Green day. So how is that being hypocritical.

BTW hypocritical is when you say something that is wrong yet you do it. I think you mean "irony'

It's okay to have success, but its stupid to speak against something and than you be it, like Green Day. They aren't respected in the punk community because if you listened to their lyrics, and then looked at what they are and if you didn't know better you would not think it's the same band.

Yeah but whoever said Green Day are "Punk". They are now considered a mainstream pop/punk. So they dont really care what the punk community thinks of them. there the minority remember!

I really love Good Riddance and it's their best song in my opinion. Boulevard of Broken Dreams is quite good too and so are other songs.

Green day is definetly one of my favorite bands! They were the first real band that i liked. They helped me break the barrier, and start likeing other bands too. That was like, 6 years ago though, but their still awesome! I like their new foxboro hottubs band that they created too. They are definetly the biggest musical impact on my life. And their songs are as easy as hell to play. Rockin out

No, I used to like this band, but I kinda out grew them and discovered different music. I just don't really see the appeal in what they market, or their musical style really. They try to be all rebellious, but it just doesn't come off to me. Maybe they should meet up with some Norwegian death metalists who believe in Satan and burnt down churches. Now, agree with it or not, that's rebellious lol.

Well, i got some new info in their new cd coming out in may (at least i think it was may). The tittle is gonna be "21st Century Breakdown". You can find some released cover art around the net (try google or youtube), and if your lucky you can find some leaked audio of the opening song "21st Century Breakdown" on youtube before warner bros. removes it. Ive heard it once so far, and im gonna try to tab it on UG since no ne else has so far. If i do tab it, ill put a link to it on a new comment in this topic.
